Helen Harwas-Horsey
Helen Harwas-Horsey has been teaching in the South Jersey area for the past 21 years. She has attended Dance Masters of America's teacher training program and recieved her certification in ballet, tap and jazz. She has also studied at the Joffery Ballet in New York City. Masters such as Luigi, Ron Daniels, Gus Giordano, Frank Hatchett, David Howard and Charles Kelly, have over the years, contributed to Helen's dance education.
From 1979 to 1984, Helen performed with the Diane Hull Dance Company for which she was assisstant dance captain. During her time with the company she performed at the grand opening of the Bourse Building and Robin Hood Delli in Philadelphia, Caesar's and Resorts International in Atlantic City, Mount Airy Ski Lodge in the Poconos, Keswick Theatre, Radio City Music Hall, Ronald Reagan's presidential victory party in Washington, D.C., and toured with Lionel Hampton and his orchestra.
In 1983, Helen founded Dancezone Inc. and served as its artistic director until 1989. She taught master classes for DMA and I.T.D.I. and judged several scholarship competitions. For several years, Helen has choreographed for the Miss Vineland and Miss Cumberland County scholarship pageants.
Helen has also choreographed for seveal theatre groups. The Cumberland Players had Helen choreograph "Godspell" and "Fiddler on the Roof". She did "Robber Bridegroom" for Glassboro State theatre department and three works for Stageworks Touring Company. KYW TV-3 Production Advertising also benefited from Helen's choreography.
In 1997, Helen was invited to teach class at Rowan University's dance department. She is now on staff as a jazz and tap teacher. Helen also teaches part time at the Arts of the Dance Centre. Helen is most often seen with her two year old daughter, Cadhla, who seems to show inclinations toward following in her mother's footsteps.
